What is Domain spoofing?

Domain spoofing is sending email that forges your exact domain in the From address, without having access to your email accounts.

Why businesses care

Recipients see your real domain name, so spoofed invoices or password-reset requests look authentic.

Example

An email “from” accounts@yourcompany.com sent by a stranger’s server.

How to check

Run the email spoofing risk checker to see whether SPF and DMARC would stop it.

How to fix

Publish SPF and DKIM and an enforcing DMARC policy (quarantine or reject).

Common mistakes

  • Confusing spoofing with account hacking
  • Thinking SPF alone stops it
  • Leaving DMARC at p=none
